Tanya Brown is our new Head of Multi-sport whose experience in all things education is an inspiration in itself.
Working as a primary teacher at North East Public School of Distance Education in Port Macquarie and Hay, her role was to provide education to students who lived either too far to travel to school, found themselves on an extended travelling holiday or with parents working either within Australia or overseas or too sick to attend school. Home visits and virtual classrooms gave her incredible insight into beautiful parts of Australia and has seen her bucket list expand greatly, with a long list of places to visit! Many significant changes occurred during her time in distance education, including moving from lesson delivery by UHF radio to computer lessons with full video and multimedia and resources also transitioning from cassette tapes and paper to digital media & delivery by cloud storage.
Her other experiences include teaching at Charles Sturt University delivering a school outreach program called Future Moves, designed to raise aspiration, awareness and attainment towards tertiary education and work and also working as a PDHPE teacher at Cootamundra High School before travelling to the USA for a season in Summer Camps.
Her greatest loves are being outdoors: walking, running (including completing the Tarawera Ultra Marathon) mountain biking, caring for the environment, spending time with friends, camping, seeing live music performances and spending time with family. Welcome aboard, Tanya.
