For our first game in the CIS (Combined Independent Schools) Cup we played against the Hunter Valley Grammar School and they were the hosts. We travelled up early to be there 45 minutes before the start of the game.
10.15 was the kick off time and the referee decided to play two halves of 30 min. Both coaches agreed and if after 60 minutes it should end in a draw, we would go to penalties straight away.
From the moment the whistle blew CCSC was on top. They controlled the game very well and were trying to get an early goal. Chances for Jakeb Brownlow, Bradley Sibanda and Kyle Johnson were not converted in the first 10 minutes, but with a shot from distance Kyle Johnson opened the score, with a little help from their keeper.
1-0 and CCSC was very confident. The 2-0 and 3-0 didn’t take too long and after 30 minutes the score was only 3-0 at half time due to two goals being cancelled for questionable offside.
Both coaches spoke to their representing players and got them ready for the second half. CCSC wasn’t finished just yet and wanted a big score on the board in their first game for the CIS Cup. So 4-0 followed in the second half and after an hour the score ended up at 5-0.
Goalscorers were Kyle Johnson (x3), Jakeb Brownlow and Josh McLuckie.
Great team effort. 17 players were selected for this game and all 17 got to play on the field and be part of this win.
Well done to everyone and get ready for the next blog about CIS.
