I am never one to shy away from a challenge. This term I have taken on the dual role of senior football coach and PDHPE teacher. I have only been in the role for a month and am already reaping the benefits of experiencing what demands are placed on our students each and every day. I love being outside coaching first thing every morning and find training a group of eager and hungry individuals a rewarding experience. The key word in the previous sentence is ‘individuals‘. We have some gifted players but as this is our first pre-season as IFS FC we must work on the team aspect. Coaching through our football program and seeing the same group of students on the field and in the classroom has enabled me to build strong relationships with the U18s squad. We trust each other and are eager for this season to start.
Through daily training, showering, and playing as a team we are already forming a tight-knit bond that will serve us well in our maiden season. I have promised to give my all for the team and fully expect the professionalism to be taken to the next level by all of the players. We are fully aware that as the newest team and being a ‘football college’ we will have a target on our backs each and every week. The boys in my squad have committed to the college and committed to each other. We have a lot to work on to be ready come the season opener and with the current determination and attitude towards training I’m confident we will be fine. We play Terrigal first grade on Thursday 23rd February 6pm and Berowra U18s March 18th at 9am. Both matches are on the main oval and we welcome any support from our beloved CCSC family and wider community.
