For those of you who do not know me, I am Bailey Chaplain and I am a Year 12 student at CCSC and have been at the college since the first day it opened.
I am currently playing football and studying (Spanish and HSC) in a football academy in Spain called FC Malaga City Academy and will be here until the end of April. I have been at the academy for almost three weeks now and already the experience has been amazing. To be able to eat, sleep and breathe football in this environment is a dream come true; training every day, recovery sessions, games against top-class youth academies like Barcelona, Sevilla, Malaga, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, just to name a few, eating a sports nutrition diet and being in such a professional environment has been such an eye opener for me.
It has been a huge stepping stone for me to travel away from home on my own. The support of my family, friends and also my teachers and coaches at CCSC has definitely made the process a whole lot easier. Being able to continue my HSC studies, the most important part of my college life, through correspondence, is great and I cannot thank my teachers at CCSC enough for giving me the opportunity to do so.
I believe training two hours a day at CCSC has also helped me settle into training over here as I’ve been around such quality coaching staff and quality football players back at college.
The level of football here is unreal, the ability of the players to keep the ball in such tight areas and to be so calm and composed on the ball is amazing. The motivation and desire to get out on that pitch every session and game and show the people here what I’ve got to offer is giving me extra drive for the four months I will be here.
I am very excited to continue the coming months here in Spain and take absolutely everything on board and do my best at everything I take on. Again, I would like to thank my family and the coaches and staff at CCSC for the support and help with the process of this amazing opportunity/journey of my life and footballing career.
