As part of our education program CCSC is happy to announce its Rock and Water program. A few of our kids have already joined this program and hopefully will reap the benefits it offers.
It basically helps kids to understand the ‘rock’ and ‘water’ within us all. We all like to be rock when times are tough and we imagine water as being weak and scared.
Rock stands for hard and tough and don’t give in, water represents easy going, go with the flow.
We explain to the kids that we can all be rock and we can all be water. It’s okay to be tough at times and it’s okay to be easy going at times. Especially in confrontations and arguments that can result in physical abuse. Sometimes it’s better to walk away to prevent that confrontation and sometimes it’s nice to receive help from bystanders to solve the problem. This is what we call Rock and Water.
I’ve videoed a session of Rock and Water with the Year 3 and 4’s (Stage 2) where Damian Mitchell is presenting the program and it’s nice to see the young kids getting involved and showing interest to become better people themselves.
Enjoy the video and please ask your child how he or she finds the program.
