As the end of the football competition has arrived for some players, and for some that means the finals are on, I would like to reflect on my team and its recent journey in the local U11’s competition.
They’ve played some great games and have shown good individual football skills in combination with excellent team effort to compete in every game this season.
We played in the U11 competition as an U9/10 age group team and were challenged in almost every game this year. There were the wins, draws and losses which, as a coach, I was so happy about in terms of really making the players develop in a lot of aspects of their football games. The 4 core skills were displayed and also decision-making in a different environment against stronger and sometimes quicker kids.
They have done me and all of their parents proud and I couldn’t be more pleased with how their football development has grown whilst not only maintaining, but increasing their love of the game.
This weekend heralds the finals for a lot of the teams and I would like to wish everyone all the best and remind those involved to play the game like it’s any other game. Medals and trophies shouldn’t interfere with decision-making and fun and I urge players to do what they do every other Saturday in their games.
Go and play the game as you know it and have fun!!!!
Good luck guys and all the IFS teams.
Coach Patrick
