The great thing about coaching kids is you’ll see improvement very quickly and their enthusiasm gives you that smile every weekend during their games.
I’m talking about the Kariong U9A-1 who are playing as an IFS squad in the local competition.
An early morning for coaches and parents is nothing for the youngsters as they wake up knowing what is awaiting them – to play with their mates against a local opponent at home or away. 8:00am is late for these determined players that only want one thing on that day, and that is to play a game of football. I arrived at Kanwal at 7:20am to find some kids already there. The weekend was a very wet one but luckily the game was still on. We warmed up and prepared as we would every other Saturday. The game started and they showed a great and committed performance which took me and the parents by surprise. They were passing well and creating chances and were clearly loving the game against their rivals, Kanwal. They scored good goals and won, and I was pleased with the way they played and the enjoyment of the players. It’s always a pleasure to work with these kids and a good time which I look forward to.
They have played 4 games so far and won 3. The players continue to improve their performance every week and there’s a good mateship between them. This weekend they’ll play at Terrigal.
My compliments go out to the players for their commitment and
passion for the game, but also to the parents for being so relaxed on the sidelines and letting their kids be kids. It makes my job so much easier and I’d like to thank everyone for their behaviour and support.
