Congratulations to IFS students, Kaylah Pisani and Jessica Garret, who have been selected as part of the U15 girls team to play in the Ultimate Fiji Cup, 2014.
Well known as a strong international youth tournament for U12 to U17 age groups, this year’s Cup should see six Australian teams competing in December.
Passionate about football and incredibly excited to be selected, Jessica and Kaylah now need our community’s help to get them to the competition. A fundraiser, to assist with travel expenses, has been organised. Your purchase of these great quality, but well-priced, wines will contribute to the cause. Click here to download the Wine Order Form
Here’s what the girls had to say after they were selected:
“I am excited about this tournament because hopefully I will meet some coaches from the USA, because I’d like to be informed about how to get a scholarship in the USA.
My goal is to become a professional football player and that’s why I’m at IFS. Working with better football players and having training sessions with good coaches already made me a better player than I was before.
One of the good things about being at IFS is that I “grow up” with boys. My experiences until now about being part of a mixed gender team are great.
I’m challenged every day to give the best of myself at college”.
Kaylah (who plays U13 with the Emergine Jets)
“I have the same goal as Kaylah and want to play as a professional in future. Meeting coaches from abroad might be a possibility to hear about how things happen, for instance in America.
Being a student at IFS has made me a much better player. I am now more mindful about what is needed to become a better player. It is so much different than having sessions somewhere else, for example, playing and having training sessions with the boys. It makes me a better player. And also….my knowledge about the game has increased so much.
I hope I can get some more good tips when I’m at the Fiji Cup.”
Jessica (who plays U15 with Mariners Academy)
