As we head into Term 4 with some great initiatives to enhance the football program even more, it’s interesting to take a look at the progress made thus far and whether we’re heading in the right direction.
The vision for the football program to assemble highly qualified coaches (who are also some of the cream of Australian football stars) and have them deliver the curriculum (FFA National Curriculum) on a full time basis to our students is already proving successful. Ninety eight per cent of our kids are local club players but within the IFS environment, great strides forward have been made.
We’re very competitive in many events with our teams across the age groups reaching semi-finals and finals rounds consistently in competitions such as the Broadmeadow Magic Cup, Kanga Cup, state and regional futsal, matches against the likes of NSWIS, NPL teams and many of the other club games we play. We’ve even gone “international” with the Challenge Cup against the New Zealanders now a regular feature in our program. There’s more of that to come too as I head off this week to check out a tournament with Brazilian, Spanish, Croatian, Japanese and Korean teams all taking part.
And, in October we start our State Futsal League competition.
All this, yet up until now, we haven’t trained as IFS teams. It’s exciting to think of the possibilities when we begin to do so.
I also have a feeling it won’t be too long before we see our students come full circle, coached and educated at our college, onto a professional career and possibly back at the college where it all started, as a teacher or a coach.
We are 18 months old.
This short video I’ve put together shows some of the football program events in which we’ve participated in the first six months of this year.

Hey Julie
That’s great! Hadn’t noticed this post, missed it somehow. You’ve put a bit of work into that one too. Thankyou
