It’s often said that there are two certainties in life – Death and Change.
[I’ll leave the former to those with a better understanding of the subject.]
– Change is an interesting ‘beast’, for some it can be a tortuous experience – it’s the break from the comfort of knowing to the discomfort in the unknown that tends to unravel many of us, – for others ‘Change’ is a welcome adventure, a flighty voyage of excitement!
At IFS every day is an opportunity to be confronted by ‘change’. The daily rhythm at IFS continues to be a new experience for our students, coaches and teachers. – Every-day Football Training, the Project Based Learning, the Open Space Learning, and then all sitting together every day to eat lunch…..
On Tuesday afternoon Sally and myself spent a short time ‘debriefing’ with our year 7 & 8 students. Their generous reflections were truly encouraging, a positive testimony to what we are working so hard to achieve. – The traditional model of the ‘teacher in front of the class talking/’teaching’ and the ‘students passively taking down notes’ is not what our students, nor we teachers, wish for here at IFS. I have such a sense that we are all ‘paddling together in the same direction’.
As I said, change can be a beast for many, but for us at IFS, – it is a fabulous gift!
Cheers,
Rodney
