This week has been an extremely busy but fruitful week. Class 5 and 6 are in the process of finishing their projects on Who Am I? In this they looked at what they know about themselves, their abilities, talents and even their physical appearance. We did a great exercise where we wrote one thing on a piece of paper that no one in the class would know about them. We then read them out and had to try to guess who’s it was. It was a great way of getting to know your fellow classmates at a deeper level.
We have been looking at “Who Am I”? and working hard at getting the students to understand that they are individuals. Individuals who are part of a class. A class that is part of a college. We are in the early stages of developing the culture we want to create at our college. If the children are able to answer this question honestly and are able to identify their strengths we begin to create an environment that works on this.
I think Goldie Hawn put it best when she said, “It is not the question, what am I going to be when I grow up; you should ask the question, who am I going to be when I grow up.”
