Greetings from Rodney
Week 2 at IFS is near its end and so too is the first Project that the students were instructed to complete. On Friday the Posters that the students were asked to create will go on display and we will also hear their oral presentations. This first project was a means by which the students could introduce themselves, describing their lives and passions up to this point in time; detailing the factors that have combined to make them the people that they are today. The students were given approximately 8 classroom-working sessions to prepare and complete the project. During that time they had the benefit of peer consultation and feedback, as well as teacher guidance and advice.
The question posed to the Year Eight students was:
“WHAT I WANT YOU TO KNOW ABOUT ME.”
As individuals each of the students tackled the assignment in their own unique way. Pleasingly and as expected, certain ‘good’ ideas by some students found their way into the Posters of others. Friday will be exciting when we share the fruits of our labour.
Year Eight is settling into their new college rhythm. It’s all a little ‘strange’ and ‘foreign’ for them, not least of all calling their teachers by their first names and not ‘Miss’ or ‘Sir’.
