I would like to say how great it has been this week to see how children are dealing with eating different flavours, spices and textures.
Formula One Team’s and Vegetarian Food…
Coming from Europe and after working for an F1 team I have experienced many different reasons why vegetables can help our bodies, minds and digestive systems in a sporting environment.
Today the children had a choice of moroccan casserole or chilli. Both served with scented cous-cous. Both of which had at least 5 vegetables in them and also contained pulses, herbs and spices.
The vegetables are far easier for the body to digest than a lump of meat, meaning that the body itself is doing less work to get nutrition out of the meal. The spices are there for two reasons, firstly as great flavour, secondly we all know that cloves and cinnamon are used for cold relief as they help open the airwaves, this also means that as children can breathe easier they will get more oxygen into their system and revive quicker from the morning exercises. Spices also stimulate the brain. Chilli within the meal also stimulates the endorphins in the brain making the child think quicker, have better reaction times and respond to others more quickly, meaning that in a team environment the whole team will respond to each other better.
The lemon, mint, fennel and basil in the cous-cous is full of vitamins and minerals too.
The herbs are like little concentrated pockets of vitamins and flavour too. The pulses and cous-cous add carbs and protein to help replenish muscle use. How many people can say they ate that today……….
happy eating, Matt.

Great work Matt, I for one really appreciate the time, thought and determination it takes to put out quality nutritious food on a daily basis. It is what these potential athletes need on a regular basis. Thanks.
