Hello and welcome to our first official week of IFS!
I would like to thank the staff, parents and students who have worked tirelessly to get our spaces ready for the start of college. Your hard work, enthusiasm and positive energy is wonderful. This positive feeling has continued to motivate staff to be the best they can be for all our IFS families. It is quite a commitment to be the foundation families of IFS, and I hope that you will feel even more confident in your decision to be a part of IFS. I know that your patience and understanding will be most welcome over the next weeks as we settle into our space. There are many things we are learning, and could only begin once we were physically on site and we have our students in college. Our students, although no strangers to the classroom, will find the way we do things to be different to what they are used to. For some, it will be a light bulb moment and for others, it may be a struggle. IFS students will find themselves needing to be more responsible, manage their time effectively, be creative and critical thinkers. Our dedicated team of teachers will be there to support and guide them through the process. I am blessed to be working with a team of teachers who are embracing innovative educational practices and are dedicated to producing quality teaching and learning activities for the students of IFS. I am also very excited about the football development program and know the enthusiasm of the coaches to share their knowledge is wonderful.
Over the coming weeks, you will hear from our teachers and coaches through their weekly blogs sharing exciting moments at IFS both in the classroom and on the field. I will fill you in with what is happening, but from a different perspective. I have the privilege of being both in the classroom and in admin, so I will be able to share my experiences of both of these with you.
In the coming weeks, I will share with you the IFS approach to Project Based Learning. In the meantime, I encourage you to spend some time going through some resources I have put together on the following website, which will help you have more of an understanding of why we do things the way we do at IFS.
