I am so excited to have begun this next chapter of my teaching career at CCSC in Stage 2. I couldn’t have asked for a better start, thanks to the fantastic staff, students, families and coaches who have been so welcoming.
I absolutely love sport! I have a love for all sports but I have a particular passion for hockey, which I have played at representative level. I was drawn to the well balanced integration of sport and academics at CCSC and if I could have my college years again I would have loved to have been at a college like CCSC.
In 2015 I completed my Bachelor of Teaching (Primary and Early Childhood Studies) at The University of Newcastle. After university I worked casually around Newcastle and Maitland but I needed a challenge. I moved to a remote indigenous community called Coen in Far North Queensland and taught Direct Instruction and Explicit Direct Instruction to Kindergarten (prep). I also taught sport to grades 3-6. I absolutely loved my time in Coen and met some amazing and talented teachers and great students and families who I am still close to today. It was a fantastic time in my life and I got to explore the boundless natural beauty of Cape York, including seeing the occasional scary crocodile.
I moved back to Newcastle at the end of 2016 and got a temporary position at Auburn North Public School in Sydney. I am so grateful to have experienced working in the largest multicultural college in Australia but the commute from Mardi to Auburn was exhausting and I wasn’t getting any time to play hockey! I am really looking forward to the challenges and exciting learning opportunities that CCSC offers and can’t wait to get to know each and every one of you.
