During the college holidays CCSC Futsal Club started the elite futsal season with a bang at the FNSW Futsal State Championships.
As usual the competition was extremely tough, providing a great opportunity for the club to test ourselves against opposition from the two Futsal Premier League competitions while also preparing for the upcoming Futsal State League season.
This year CCSC Futsal Club has enjoyed its best results to date.
The 14 Boys squad performed extremely well in the event making it through to the finals after a very strong showing in the pool stage against tough opposition including Boomerangs FS (FPL2) and Enfield Allstars FC (FPL1).
The boys put in a strong performance in their quarter final, finishing 3-2 over Sydney Futsal Club (FPL2) to progress to the semi final against Mascot Vipers (FPL1) going down a very respectable 3-2 to the competition’s eventual winners.
The CCSC Futsal 18 Women managed to go through the whole competition undefeated.
The girls started strong, topping their pool which included matches against Enfield Allstars (FPL1), Sydney City Eagles (FPL2).
In the semi finals the girls were drawn against event favourites Mountain Majik from the Premier League 1 competition, battling out a hard fought 2-1 win to progress to the grand final.
The grand final was against Enfield Allstars FC (FPL1), with our girls grinding out another gritty performance to prevail 1-0 winners and taking out the tournament.
An amazing result for all involved. It is extremely rare for a team from outside of the FNSW Premier League competition to even make a grand final.
