This year I took charge of the maiden IFS FC U18’s team, and starting out with just three players preseason I knew I had to deliver the kind of year that the boys in my team would remember for a lifetime. By taking training, match analysis and fitness to the next level the team soon began to take shape, attracting some big name signings.
Two weeks ago we became minor premiers winning the league by a ten point margin with two games to play. At times the football we have displayed has been superb and it has been great to watch the growth and development of each player this year, honestly, these are the best you can get. We have forged a tight bond that has seen us come out on top during some hostile situations.
I still remember playing in a grand final for my college (many moons ago) and I look back with fond memories as I too was playing alongside not only teammates but friends who I had grown up with and friends who helped shape the person I have become.
I sincerely hope the U18’s team appreciate what they have achieved regardless of the pending finals series results. It has been an extremely enjoyable year on and off the field and I can honestly say I am one proud coach.
Our semi final is this Sunday at Pluim Park, 3pm KO so if you’re free we would love your support.
A big thank you to our sponsors, Projectis Traffic, Brehar Building and NeoPro.
