Several college futsal competitions have been played over the last few weeks. CCSC has had some success in the competitions with a number of age groups qualifying for finals. All of our age groups really enjoy playing and thrive on these events coordinated by Football NSW, as well as the community level tournaments.
Over the years the college has collected winners and runners-up medals but the real winners are the kids who continue to improve their overall football skills and passion for playing team sport. The quick decision-making in futsal translates into football where midfield play requires constant changes in direction in and out of possession. First touch and striking the ball are constantly tested as small spaces on the futsal field offer little room for error. 1v1 defending and attacking is always evident with transition between both requiring agility and awareness of options for shots or passes.
I have been fortunate to work with lots of kids with varying ability in the game of futsal. The one attribute of the game that is always evident is pure enjoyment, shown by all players. Win or lose, players just want to continue playing with the desire to apply new tricks or techniques to beat their opponents. It is no wonder that so many famous footballers played futsal in their younger years. Click this link to see a list of famous footballers who were also futsal fanatics.
