With the 2017/2018 IFS Futsal season commencing this week it is the perfect time to look back at our 2016/17 Elite Futsal season. It has been our most successful to date with six of our nine teams qualifying. We got the championship series, three minor premiers, two champions and two runners-up along with a large array of individual awards.

With the majority of the team getting their first taste of elite futsal this season, their future in the sport is looking very bright.

17 Girls
For the second year in a row the 17 Girls squad led by Andrew Peachey finished the season as Minor Premiers with a very commanding +128 goal difference, nearly 50 goals more than their nearest rival. They were set to go through the regular season undefeated until the last match where the absence of regular keeper Samantha Fulwood was felt as the girls recorded their only defeat of the season.
With two very commanding performances in both championship series matches, the girls were left devastated after conceding two late goals in the Grand Final, going down 4-3 after controlling most parts of the match.

Youth Men
After a strong start to the season the Youth Mens team was one of the main contenders of the division. Top Scorers
- Caleb Weedon – 11 Goals (7th overall)
- Jakeb Brownlow – 11 Goals (7th)
- Bailey Chaplain – 7 Goals (16th)
Open Womens
In the strongest and most open Womens competition in the FNSW Futsal State League in years the Open Women looked set to have the minor premiership wrapped up before a close loss in the final match of the season, dropping Andrew Peachey’s team into second place, one point behind the Minor Premiers.
Despite a clinical performance in the Grand Final, the missed opportunities on goal caught up with the side when a momentary lapse of concentration gave CCFC a free kick in front of goals to level the match and take the match into extra time. With more missed opportunities in was another free kick that proved the difference, leaving the side with the runners-up medals.

Open Men
The Open Men led by Will Piriz finished the 2016/17 FNSW Futsal State league season in seventh place. In an extremely tough competition featuring several ex professional footballers such as Socceroo Nicky Carle and Futsalroos such as Benjamin Lam it was a very big challenge for the squad.
After a disrupted start to the season with some early line-up shake ups, the signing of Tim Witchard and Jesse Piriz helped to bring some stability back to the squad along with some strong performances to match. Lots of development across the season and positive signs with the squad looking to be one of the main contenders in the 2017/18 season ahead.
