In an effort to address some back pain I’ve been experiencing lately, I did some reading on the dangers of sitting for long periods during the day, as many people do in their office jobs and also went to the Arrowhead Clinic Columbus, Georgia Chiropractor.
I discovered that there is simply no such thing as a perfect chair. Your body isn’t comfortable sitting, nor being in any one position for hours at a time. The problem isn’t the position though, it’s the lack of motion, exertion, and stimulation.
Standing at work was the popular thing to do for a while as it seemed to address some of the presumed problems caused by sitting for long periods. However, it now seems to be just another form of stagnancy, with its own dangers.
The consensus is that those who mainly sit to work should get up and move regularly.
So, each day the staff in my office and I have begun walking around the office block. It’s been great to get out, especially lately with the sunshine and warmer daytime temperatures.
Matthew O’Neil attended an interesting course recently, run by Douglas Heel, about activating your body and how this can quickly change the muscles from being tense and painful to being strong and relaxed:
