Recently we had Year 7 come to the café and prepare sushi rolls for the whole college which was a big task, but all the students took part and everyone really enjoyed a variety of sushi. They all got stuck in without hesitation and had fun and the mess wasn’t that bad either.
I think it is great for kids to get hands-on and have a go even if they’re not that sure what the results will be when they are finished. It was a great learning experience and they all looked so proud when they saw what they had made.
Sushi is a very fiddly thing to make but is a yummy and healthy meal. We had an excellent day and followed on from the sushi making a Japanese inspired lunch of teriyaki chicken skewers and a chicken and mushroom gyoza. Here is a picture of the completed sushi – great job guys!
