The countdown has started for our Stage 6 students. There are only a few weeks left before they sit their trial HSC exams, only a few more assessments which need to be completed before they undertake their final HSC examinations.
It seems like only yesterday that our Stage 6 students sat in their first HSC PDHPE, English and Biology classes, not really knowing what the next year would mean.
I can only speak for the students in PDHPE as this is the subject I team-teach with Gavin. The students have adapted well to the challenges which have been presented to them.
The advice I give to them as they approach the final stages of this year’s HSC:
Learn the Syllabus – use your flipped syllabus to make your revision notes.
Develop Mind Maps – for the key content make a large mind map or diagram that you can stick on your walls to be reminded, each morning and evening, of what you need to know.
Practise Exam Technique – use past paper questions and write a plan for the questions so you can then form a response. Complete it and mark it against the marking criteria so you can see where marks are allocated.
Go to Sleep at a Reasonable Hour – the weeks leading up to the exams will take a toll. You must ensure that you get sufficient sleep so you can remain focused and concentrate hard on your study.
Ask for Help – Come and check in with your teachers at CCSC. We are here for you to talk to and to provide reassurance regarding HSC content. You can get through it all but you need to sometimes lean on us.
Prepare yourself well and you will have success.
