A good HSC result is not built on easy days. School work, like sport, is a mental game. Without the proper mindset you will, at some point in your Stage 6 adventure, begin to falter and eventually experience significant problems. We all love an easy, relaxed day. That is the day where it all makes sense, you understand what you are doing with great clarity and class work seems almost enjoyable.
Here’s the downside: the days that feel like that don’t do a lot for your HSC result.
Great HSC results are created on the days when you walk in the classroom and just want to leave. The days where every single task feels difficult and impossible to complete. The days that make you question your commitment and passion. The days where you struggle to focus and to stay on task. The days where every fibre of your soul says quit. The days where you are just not interested and all you want to do is go home.
Those are the days that build your HSC.
Having the resilience to keep on going when you feel like quitting. Having the self-belief to keep on pushing yourself when you doubt you will ever understand a particular topic. Having the tenacity to keep on looking for improvement that may seem very far away. Having the courage to admit that you may need some support and actually seeking that help. Having the endurance of doing what you need to, day in, day out…
That’s what gets a great HSC result.
