Having the opportunity to work on the other side of college life has opened our eyes towards understanding the responsibilities and organisation required to run a college. Although our employment wasn’t exactly what we expected we realise the environment that we have been employed in is ideal for a young kid straight out of college. We have learnt how to adapt to a busy working lifestyle and we are adjusting to working in a professional space, as well as juggling our football life with work.
Our morning schedule consists of taking the primary students for training with our coach mentors. Joey is with Will, Jarrod is with Joey Peters and Blake is with Brad. This has shown us another side of football; from being coached, to being the coach. Each day new challenges arise and between sessions we have the opportunity to study for our Certificate 3 in Sports Coaching, our C License Coaching course as well as doing any other projects we are assigned to. In the afternoons we get the chance to work with the senior students and other coaches, allowing us to get a broader perspective on what type of coach we would like to become.
So far the transition has been tough at stages, however it has been a challenge that we have all enjoyed.
