As a coach I often speak about the importance of hard work and commitment, and how essential both these elements are to making a successful career, be it in football or another field. Over the Christmas break I was lucky enough to return to the UK to spend some time with family and friends. Prior to travelling back, I had been contacted by my old club Brentford FC advising that they were inducting me in to their Hall of Fame and Wall of Fame. I was genuinely surprised and honoured to be recognised for my time and achievements at the club. Whilst in the UK I returned to my old ground at Brentford FC and in front of friends, family, former players and fans I received my induction into the Hall of Fame. It was an amazing experience to reconnect with old teammates, fans and staff of the club. It was also a very humbling experience to see my name alongside many great players who I had looked up to and admired during my career. Although I am grateful to receive such an honour, I know how hard I worked both on and off the pitch to ensure I was the best player I could be, which made the recognition for my efforts, a bonus.
