Last week the students in Stage 6 started the course of studies that will take them to the Biology HSC. The course is a rewarding and challenging mix of practical activities and theory. During their studies most students will experience encouraging successes and some (hopefully few) setbacks. For a successful HSC both experiences are important. Successes build self confidence and a desire to maintain the positive feeling, therefore promoting good work ethics and routines. Setbacks, viewed properly, give feedback and offer invaluable insight as to how to improve oneself and what to do in order to avoid repeating the same experience. Early signs in the classroom are encouraging. Students are showing a willingness to learn and cooperate with each other. Hopefully they will treasure both kinds of experience on the way to a very successful HSC.
