It has been an incredible season for the CCSC State League Futsal Club with five teams making the finals series. Three teams are now waiting to play the grand final this coming Saturday, the 12’s boys and the 15’s and 17’s girls. The level of competition for all of our teams has been exciting to say the least and has provided all our players with an opportunity to enjoy a great version of modified football.
I have had the privilege of coaching both the 13’s and 15’s girls teams during this season. The reason I say it has been a privilege is because I have been able to enjoy coaching a group of girls who want to have fun while learning a sport that challenges them. The level of improvement has been excellent and both teams were rewarded with finals experience. The 15’s will now play their grand final on Saturday at the home of Football NSW in Glenwood.
During the year a number of the girls were selected for representative teams, enabling them to compete at even higher levels, among other very good players. The confidence level of all the girls has been boosted by their achievements.
The commitment that CCSC has given to futsal has opened the doors for players of varying abilities to participate in one of the fastest growing sports in Australia. Andrew Peachey has joined the coaching ranks and heads the management of our futsal competitions which was previously steered by Damien Brown. Andrew has been a great addition to the coaching staff and futsal has continued to grow under his full-time care.
The Futsal State League season is almost over and we now have some great opportunities to see our kids rewarded for competing at their best in a game full of quick-thinking challenges. This season has been a great improvement on our first year at this level of competition and the future looks even brighter.
