In the course of a single day, you will have about 50,000 thoughts.
Worryingly, when we are in a bad mood or anxious, 90 percent of our thoughts are miserable and self-defeating.
Just remember how exhausting it is to spend an hour or two in the company of someone who has nothing good to say about anyone or anything; who moans and whinges, who goes on and on about how unfair something is etc – and pays no attention whatsoever to what’s going well.
You would want to escape their company as soon as possible!!!
Many years ago, an author by the name of Norman Vincent Peale in his book, ‘The Power of Positive Thinking’, pointed out: “A positive thinker does not refuse to recognise the negative, HE REFUSES TO DWELL ON IT. ”
We need to remind ourselves that we can choose to think differently. Once we do this, our moods and feelings will follow and positively affect the well-being of everyone around us.
