Creativity is at the core of what we do as teachers at CCSC. In English from Stage 1 to Stage 6 we encourage and help students to extend and expand on their creativity. Creativity in English can take the form of narratives; short pieces of writing such as character descriptions, visual representations; short films, web pages and blogs, scripts and screen plays, raps and poetry. Many of you will have read or viewed samples of your child’s work throughout their collegeing.
At the beginning of this term Year 10 were engaged in a variety of creative tasks. They were able to choose from 10 different tasks and work at their own pace. It was pleasing to see that many are developing their creative skills by learning to “show”, not “tell.” This is just one of the skills students are required to achieve in Stage 6 English.
If students have time, please encourage your child to request extra creative and essay writing tasks at home as practice… practice… and more practice is the most effective strategy to achieve in Stage 6 English.
