This term we have moved our futsal skills from timber floors and are now trying our close skills on the tennis courts. My first thoughts were of students complaining with injury or tumbles or lack of a genuine futsal game. We took to the courts with some markers for simple goals, bibs and size 2 futsal balls and gave it a go.
After five weeks I have found the kids in my 9/10 year and 13 year age groups have been very keen to engage the new street soccer rules that we’ve come up with. We play a round robin event once a week, (weather permitting), for each age group combined with another group. The coaches pick the teams where necessary and it’s game on. The speed of the game is determined by the players and they all try their little tricks to solve their game situation.
