Year 9 have been studying a variety of topics this term. From a model United Nations which involved each student researching and becoming the leader of a country to how they can be a better person to spelling bees and creative writing. Throughout these investigations we have enjoyed each other’s views, values and sense of humour.
We all felt an injection of humour and laughter was needed after our model UN discussed the tragic events that occurred on the weekend not only in France but also Beirut and other areas of Lebanon, Baghdad and many other places. The students are to make a short film recreating and reflecting on the changes within comedy over time, particularly around periods of hardship throughout history.
Laughter is an extremely powerful tool at binding and uniting people within a group. Research has shown it also triggers healthy physical changes within the body like strengthening immune systems, boosting energy, diminishing pain and providing protection from the damaging effects of stress.
Regardless of your background, opinions, experiences and views, laughter is a universal language and truly a brilliant form of medicine.
