I seriously cannot believe that we have just started Term 4 of this year.
I thought last term was busy but looking through all the events we have planned already I know that this term will far outdo the last.
We have kicked off the term in Stage 4 with Geography. The focus is ‘Investigating the World’. We have spent time looking into the human and physical elements of the world. Students will be discovering the significance of longitude and latitude as well as applying their PBL skills to teamwork and task management.
On Friday Stage 4 will be going on a field trip to the Bouddi National Park. We will be walking along the Bouddi Coastal Walk that runs for 8km from Putty Beach through to MacMasters Beach. Students will be observing and recording the variety of human and physical elements that are present along the walk. They will document photos and record the place they observed an element on their maps.
From the data they gather students will develop their final product that will allow them to display their field work and answer the question: what physical and human elements shape our land and how do they interact with each other?
The field trip will also act as an entry event to the History project which will be run later. The coastal walk will pass the ‘PS Maitland’ ship wreck, which will lead to historical discussion and into their Personal Interest project.
All of this in the first two weeks of term!
