Friday Night Futsal starts this Friday, 16 October at two locations – Niagara Park Stadium and Peninsula Leisure Centre, both from 5pm. Interested players can register at ccsc.nsw.edu.au/futsal or register at either venue this Friday.
While traditionally this is the time that players transition from football to futsal, (even though we provide futsal all year round), IFS Futsal Club is also transitioning internally. As of this week, we have a new IFS Futsal Co-ordinator in Andrew Peachey. Andrew comes to IFS with a wealth of futsal knowledge and I would officially like to welcome him as part of the IFS team. Any questions regarding our local community competitions or the State League can be directed to Andrew at andrew.peachey@ifsfutsal.com.
Our brief futsal history shows that we started a futsal training program at Niagara Park Stadium in Term 3, 2013. We then moved to our first futsal competition with just over 70 players in Term 4. Two years on and we are running two local competitions with over 160 players participating all year round, each Friday night. We also have our own IFS Futsal Club now competing in its second year of the FNSW Futsal State League (and we won 6 out of 8 games last weekend!).
With the continued growth of the college and adding Kindergarten and Years 1 and 2 over the next couple of years, my focus will be looking after our new students and the processes involved with that. I am excited to see where IFS Futsal will be in years to come (no pressure Andrew) and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of its beginnings.
