This year that we wanted our students to use folders to keep any written work in. As a teacher, marking work has always been something that often comes home with you, and carrying piles of books can be quite difficult. So to me, using folders was the answer. I can take home sheets to mark, rather than books. Easy. Sort of.
What I have found to be a very interesting exercise was the need to teach our students how to be organised. Using loose leaf paper, folder dividers and plastic sleeves is not as straight forward as it seems either.
We have had lessons in ‘how to organise your folder’ and numerous individual demonstrations in how to use a plastic sleeve. I love these little demonstrations; they are fun and the look on the faces of our students when they realise that a plastic sleeve has a top and a bottom is priceless.
We all thank you for making sure your children have all the bits and pieces we have asked for. We are slowly but surely becoming more organised.
