As another term comes to an end, I take time to reflect on the ten weeks that have passed. It feels like English in the high college has taken a round-the-world trip, back in time. In Stage 4 we focused on Ancient Greece and decided “Who deserved the olive wreath?” although I think the jury is still out on that one. There were some convincing arguments for Hercules, although the Ancient Olympics were in with a pretty good chance at one point.
Stage 5 focused on Shakespeare and in particular Hamlet, creating some convincing arguments in regards to whether Shakespeare was dead or alive. From the responses I have read, it seem that he is physically dead, however his legacy still lives on in many modern texts.
It has been great to see our students expand their knowledge and learn about authors and texts that, although written hundreds of years ago, are still of relevance today.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy break.
