Did you try the Konisberg puzzle in my last blog.? If you did, and failed, you will be pleased to know that it is a mathematical impossibility and there is no solution to it. On a brighter note there is a solution to today’s puzzles.
Brain puzzles are more than just mere games. They are ‘exercise’ and training for the brain, improving mental agility and staving off mental decline associated with ageing. Einstein was really keen to develop his students’ ability to see the world differently. His favourite saying was “Any fool can know. The real achievement is understanding.” He used brain teasers for his pupils. Below are two of them for you to attempt. They are really not that difficult and there IS a solution this time. Enjoy!

A train leaves from New York City heading towards Miami at an average speed of 85 kph. Three hours later, a train leaves Miami heading towards New York City at an average speed of 144 kph. Assume there’s exactly 900 kilometres between New York City and Miami. When they meet, which train is closer to New York City?
Answers in the next blog.

That’s not fair! I spent a good while on the Konisberg puzzle before giving up in frustration. Now I realise it should have been obvious there is no solution!

507 at the top and 500 7 at the bottom. when they meet they will be the same distance from both NYC and Miami, didn’t even need to do maths for the second one
