So we are now into week three of our drama project. The students have been learning lines, dances, movements, sound, editing scenes and re-editing.
Last week I had two days off to be the best man at my sister-in-law’s wedding. I got back yesterday and got a bit panicked when I suddenly realised we only have two weeks before the big night. So I had a bit of a meltdown yesterday with the class and tried to portray the urgency needed. I returned today refreshed and ready to try again. It was great to have Karen back. With the help of Melissa (our student teacher) she and the class showed me what they had worked on while I was at the wedding. They’d been working on a series of dances. I was absolutely amazed that students who were considered “shy” were up there dancing and enjoying it. I then realised I needed to relax and enjoy the creativity that is PBL. It is all going to come together beautifully and I can’t wait to see the finished product. Thank you to my awesome colleague Karen who does an amazing job.
Our play will be performed over two nights: year 6 on Tuesday 16 September at 6:30pm and year 5 on Wednesday 17 September at 6:30pm. Everyone is welcome to attend both performances, but they are the same drama. They will be held in building 25. Hope to see you there.
