This week, Stage 5 students have started their investigation into the mysterious re-appearance of Shakespeare. Although Shakespeare died in 1616, his work is still relevant in modern society and over the next three weeks Stage 5 will be investigating where and how, and finally deciding on whether, Shakespeare is actually dead or alive.
In order to do this, students are taking on the role of detectives, analysing pieces of evidence and compiling reports to show their understanding. For part of the investigation students will be working in teams discussing the importance of the evidence they have collected. I have attached some images of the first piece of evidence re-constructed by Stage 5.
The study of Shakespearean texts often comes with a significant amount of moaning and groaning from students as they find it irrelevant and difficult to understand. Hopefully the project they are undertaking will enlighten them as to the necessity of understanding Shakespeare and the knowledge that he is more than just an old dude who wrote boring plays and poems.
As I was doing some research, I found this video explaining the true value of Shakespeare.
