You know what I love about the culture we are creating at our college, is that even when the rain comes pelting down, so much so that the ducks are out on our fields, we still just get the job done.
We started our new project yesterday. The driving question is “How do you be the change you wish to see in the world?” Over the next five weeks we will be looking into answering this question with the final product of a whole stage drama. Students are in the process of writing the play based around this question and along the way we will be looking at incorporating Maths, English, Creative Arts and Science.
We are also going down to Sydney in a couple of weeks to see The 26 Story Treehouse in play form at the Seymour Centre. A letter will go out soon about this. Students are currently reading the book before they see the play and most are close to, or already finished.
Today the students, in their groups, were given a scene to write, produce and choreograph. They only have a few days to get this done before we start to look at set construction, etc. By the end, students will be in charge of writing the script, performing the play, set design and construction, costume design and construction, sound and lighting and everything else that is involved in making a production on any scale. I will keep you up to date through my next blog on how this is all going, but we are really looking forward to putting on our production for the public. This will be performed in the last week of this term (so if you know that your child will not be at college that week, please let us know now). More information about these nights to come.
