Professional sport in general is made up of so many different characters and personalities. Some are loud and obnoxious, some are quiet and respectful, some are show ponies, and others quietly perform. Some definitely ‘talk the talk’ and ‘walk the walk’.
All these attributes can add up to make a champion, but there is an underlying area that all true champions have in common – internal confidence and external ability.
Everybody knows someone who talks the talk, but can in no way back it up with the same level of performance.
Why?
Usually it’s insecurity in their own ability or preparation – I know I haven’t trained hard enough for the upcoming event, BUT, maybe if I talk myself up and act really confident, then I might just get by.
NOT!!!
The in’s and out’s of a great sportsperson can be very simple.
Great sportsmen and women believe in their ability. They do the hard work at training. They prepare themselves mentally and physically for the challenge. They make sure that when the battle is on, they perform at their highest level. Their confidence is inside them and they let their performance speak for itself.
Are you displaying internal confidence and external ability on a day to day basis?
Have you prepared physically and mentally for the challenges now and ahead?
If you have, your performances will speak for themselves.
