As I am not a parent (and no, not anytime soon) I am yet to experience that immense pride that parents have in their children, the type of pride that makes your eyes well with tears. That being said, I am lucky enough to have built a relationship with our students, in particular those in stage 4, which lends itself towards feelings of both pride and disappointment.
Last week, while I was teaching stage 6 English, stage 4 students were working on their Ancient Greece projects with one of our prac students. During a conversation with a stage 6 student, a number of images were popping up on my email. As I saw the images load, a smile came across my face, prompting the stage 6 student to ask what I was smiling about. The smile, I can only describe as one representative of a feeling of both pride and amusement. The photos (some of which are shown below) were images of stage 4 completing the work I had planned for them that afternoon. I will let you decide for yourself whether stage 4 really enjoyed the task or not, but either way I was proud of their efforts.

It makes me smile to think that the teachers have such a great relationship with the students.
