60 Seconds with Brad Porter
Born: Gosford, NSW
Age: 27
Status: Taken
Occupation: Football Coach/Entrepreneur (coming soon)
Favourite player: Eric Cantona
Best moment: Meeting my partner Zoe
Worst moment: None. There aren’t many bad circumstances or worst moments you can’t look back on in six months that you aren’t grateful for and think to yourself “I’m glad that happened or I wouldn’t be doing this now.”
Best thing about IFS: Being able to work for two hours every day with players who are involved in football for nothing else other than a passion and love for the game.
Ambition: To die young, as late as possible.
Regrets: None
What would you change about Brad Porter: Nothing
How do you respond to criticism:
If it’s constructive, I reflect on my actions and see where I can use it to improve. If it’s non-constructive or emotional I put myself in the shoes of the person who said it (with their beliefs, upbringing, understanding, knowledge, etc), to the point that I would have criticised me too. From this level of awareness it’s much easier to detach and not take it personally.
Background:
Brad started his representative career at the age of 11. With many sacrifices, great attitude, a high level of discipline and hard work he was selected to join the Football NSW Institute and the Coever program. Brad was also part of the state and regional zone programs that developed many great players such as Joey Peters, Harry Kewell, Brett Emerton and Matt Simon. Brad moved on to compete in the NPL Youth Competition and matured into a Central Coast Mariners senior firsts team player. As we all know, Brad is part of our great IFS coaching staff. Well done Brad, great achievement.
In Summary:
In one sentence? What would your message be to our young players at IFS?
If you wake up in the morning without a dream, go back to sleep!
Thank you Brad and enjoy term 3.
Reporting to you, Coach Danny
