Yesterday was our Inter House Athletics Carnival at Mingara. With blue sky and smiling faces, the atmosphere for the entire event was set early. As a PDHPE teacher this is one of the events in the calendar I really look forward too. All of the organising is well worth it when you witness just how many great athletes we have in IFS.
It was around 11:30am yesterday when I spun on my ‘moon-boot’ to take in a full panorama of the students competing. I smiled to myself and felt a massive sense of pride in our whole team, the staff, parents and of course the students. It is an absolute dream as a PDHPE teacher to have almost every single student hungry to participate and compete against their friends in as many events as possible.
The manner in which students conducted themselves in victory and defeat was honourable and a testament to the ethos we are creating at this unique college.
We now have our first college athletics records as a benchmark for students to enjoy and ultimately attempt to beat year on year.
The results from the day were:
1st ROBERTS (878)
2nd SPINDLER (837)
3rd CHAPMAN (737)
4th DOLAN (695)
Thank you to all staff and parents for supporting the event and I look forward to a bigger and better day next year as we continue to grow.
