Well, it is always exciting to come back into a new term and to see some new faces. Our class has grown from 44 to 55 this year and I am sure that it will continue to grow as we move forward. Please, can we make sure we look after our new students and parents, making them feel as welcome as possible.
The start of this term has seen us finishing off a project from last term – designing a multicultural art exhibition based on the World Cup. We have also had a look at a video called Like a Girl. This video is available on YouTube and watching it led to a fascinating talk about how we see girls and manners in general.
At IFS we really try hard to instill in our students the importance of manners. I will never forget, as I grew up, how my father would always make sure he opened the door for my mother. Some see this as old college, but why can’t old college be the new college? Manners play such an important part in our lives and whether it be a simple “please” or “thank you” or even a handshake, it goes a really long way. In our class we endeavour to make manners a necessity in life, which could mean the difference between getting a contract or not (along with a lot of other things).
Bless you…. manners are so important. Thank you for this great article.
I couldn’t agree more Shane. Thank you for the article and I’m very happy to hear that IFS is making manners a focus in the class. It really is important and can make a huge difference in every day situations….by the way Harry seems to be settling in very well thank you and absolutely loves going to IFS!
