I have watched this clip on Sir Ken Robinson’s Changing Education Paradigms a couple of time now and each time I watch it I realise that we, as a college, are trying to change the way people view education. We are constantly pushing the boundaries to ensure collegeing is significant and meaningful to students.
I really encourage you to watch this clip as it may open your eyes to the way education is currently structured, a structure created in response to the Industrial Revolution.
Some questions Sir Ken Robinson asks which I challenge you to think about:
- Should colleges be encouraging ‘divergent thinking’ not just creativity?
- Should our students be experiencing ‘aesthetic’ or anaesthetic’ learning?
- Why should we educate students by batches and treat them as though they are moving through a manufactured process?
Take a look at the clip below, I hope it challenges the way you think about how our children are being educated.
I would love to hear your feedback!
