The definition of destiny is:
1. Something that is to happen or has happened to a particular person or thing; lot or fortune.
2. The predetermined, usually inevitable or irresistible, course of events.
3. The power or agency that determines the course of events.

Working at IFS I witness on a daily basis students ‘chasing’ their destiny. A lot of people are firm believers in destiny and that there is an inevitable pre-determined course of events that can lead to an outcome. Others simply think that ‘everything happens for a reason’ or ‘whatever will be, will be.’
Using the above image of a modern day footballing role model, Christiano Ronaldo, I tend to dismiss the later thought of ‘everything happens for a reason’ and am convinced that if a person is willing to commit their efforts and dedicate their life to a true passion then anything is possible. In a recent mentoring session I showed a documentary that demonstrated how intensely Ronaldo trains and how he sees each and every day as a challenge to get fitter, faster, stronger and be the number one footballer of the modern era. We discussed the short film and asked what actually makes him so damn good? The students concluded that, yes, he may be talented and biomechanically suited to the sport of football but it was simply his belief in himself and an unrelenting passion, focus and drive to make his perceived destiny a reality. He is often the first to training and the last to leave relentlessly practising and refining his technique so that one crucial moment he can rise above his fellow man to defeat any opponent.
So to all the players and staff at IFS I simply say this; if you want to improve as a player, coach, teacher or even just become the best person in life you can be, then ensure you have the desire, the motivation and the self belief that YOU are in TOTAL control of your actions every second of every day.
Ultimately if you are able to step back, self analyse and take ‘the hits’ to keep moving forward then YOU will create a fulfilling and rewarding destiny of your own.
