Last week brought the first Parent/Teacher/Coach meeting of the year, with Karen and I seeing a new parent every ten minutes for four and a half hours. A daunting task when you first start out and, to be honest, I was somewhat apprehensive of the situation, partly due to the lack of sleep my seven month old has been giving me lately. She seems to think singing at the top of her lungs at 2am is awesome. Needless to say the rest of the house disagrees (although she does have a wonderful voice).
So 4pm saw our first parent walk in and we tried our best to keep to our ten minutes per parent. This proved really hard, firstly as the passion of our parents for their children and their education became hugely evident, and secondly, the amount of times parents said, “My child used to hate going to college, but now loves it.” This I found the most heartwarming and as I drove home with Karen I was really pumped. The statement came through from so many parents, it cannot be a coincidence. The winning formula of sport and education (project based learning style) seems to have the bi-product that children love coming to college. Who would have thought that would ever happen?
Absolutely, Just this week I was chatting to families of IFS and we were all saying exactly that…our children love coming to college now and would choose college over a day off.
Thanks
Chontelle
A huge thank you to IFS and all its staff. We really appreciate your time and effort – this college is such a great concept, and it’s wonderful to see the kids so engaged and enthusiastic about college. My 12yo would cringe at me saying this, but – “IFS rocks!!!”
