Last Friday I had the pleasure of taking off my teacher’s hat and putting on my coaching hat as I accompanied the stage 4 boys to the U14s Futsal Tournament. Having been immersed in football my whole life, following my brother playing football and futsal, from field to field and country to country, I felt quite confident when Julie informed me I would be coaching a team. Anyone who knows me will understand when I say, I have a very competitive nature and am not one for taking a back seat. I was eager to get started with my team and give it a shot.
The coaching gig was not as easy as I anticipated. There were many nail biting, hair pulling moments as I paced the sideline with a mixture of anxiety and excitement. The boys were unlucky on many occasions, but as a team they grew with confidence and forged together throughout the day. I was so very proud of their efforts and the dedication and determination they displayed throughout the day. Not only my team, but all IFS teams, gave it their all and played to the best of their ability.
Although, I did enjoy coaching my team, I have decided from now on I will remain in the classroom and leave the coaching to the experts that our students are so fortunate to be guided by. A special mention to all our coaches – after my experience, I have a newfound respect for the job they undertake on a daily basis.

Ahhhh so your to blame?!!! Ha ha!
Seriously though, I wanted to thank you for your term 2 outline. It was an excellent communication and showed that you had given a lot of thought to your students during your holidays. I’ve talked to other parents who noticed same and we think your pretty excellent. B
