Hi,
This is another blog about anxiety. Why…?
For much of my life I have had to manage anxiety. I can only recall some small events that could have been a trigger for this problem. This next video is, let’s say, different, but when I was in primary college I was a left handed person. I got told by people close to me that it was unnatural, weird, meant I was stupid and that I would never get friends being like that. For a young child it was very traumatic and promoted the belief that I was not ok as I was and that I needed to change something about myself to be accepted or be seen as ‘normal’. Not only did I have to hide something that was very natural for me but I also had to learn a whole new way of completing my collegework which, in itself, made me stand out as it was a process that took some time.
What the video here: Is it ok to be left handed?
Of course nowadays it’s not such a problem for most people who are left handed. In fact, if you are a footballer it can be a great asset, as it often means you are a natural left footer. This will make you stand out, but in a much more socially acceptable way. There are not as many natural left footers and one has to wonder if maybe there is a link between this and the numerous left handers who were forced to become right handers.

Great post. Instead of teasing people for being different we should be accepting. – lachie R
