I have had the opportunity this week to step out of the open learning space for awhile and start teaching the stage 6 students. We began our second core PDHPE module, Better Health for Individuals. This module runs for the remainder of the term and sees students learning about what health means to individuals. They have worked purposefully and with focus throughout the sessions. They have developed an understanding of health and its four dimensions. They have learned that health is a constant changing state and is much more than being physically active and free from disease. They have gained an understanding of their perception of their health and that of others. We left off today with an end of week test and a look at our protective behaviours and risk behaviours.
My observation of year 11 so far is that the students have developed a mature attitude to learning and are confident in their studies and developing their work. Next week they will receive their final assessment for the module which is due on 26 March at 3pm. I encourage all students to manage their time and efforts to ensure they learn and revise the content and apply it to the assignment.
